Former Fox News anchor Shepard Smith’s social media accounts have disappeared following his departure from the network earlier this month.
Smith, 55, an original hire for the network in 1996, announced the end of his tenure live on-air Oct. 11. He asked the network “to allow me to leave Fox News and begin a new chapter,” and added that “they graciously obliged,” before thanking the network.
In the time since his departure, Smith’s official Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts no longer appear on each of the social media sites. Fox News confirmed to the Washington Examiner on Tuesday that each of the accounts was owned by the outlet.
In the weeks before he left, Smith tussled with Fox News host Tucker Carlson, describing him as “repugnant” for his unwillingness to push back against Former U.S. Attorney Joe diGenova. Smith had also verbally sparred with President Trump on multiple occasions. Last month, the anchor defended former Vice President Joe Biden and his son for the ongoing attacks they have faced from Trump, while the president speculated that Smith’s departure from Fox had to do with ratings.
