Bernie Sanders criticized Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump for exploiting the issue of international trade because it is politically popular issue.
“Donald Trump lives in his own world,” the Democratic presidential hopeful told ABC News Tuesday afternoon. “I think he is here picking up on an issue which from a political point of view is a popular issue.”
The Vermont senator said that he is the only candidate who has “stood with working people” his entire political career.
According to Sanders, who has been a strong supporter of raising the national minimum wage to $15 an hour, Trump think’s a $7.25 an hour minimum wage is “just fine.”
“I think if the workers of this country want a candidate who has stood with them, who will transform our trade policies, I think Bernie Sanders is that candidate,” he said, adding that he could never see himself working with Trump on the issue of trade.
His comments come as Indiana voters head to the polls for both parties. Sanders looks to upset rival Hillary Clinton in the Hoosier state and cut her delegate lead.
