Actors Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Tom Hanks jokingly announced they are running for president and vice president in 2020 during the “Saturday Night Live” season finale this weekend.
“When it comes to politics we need more poise and less noise,” Johnson said. “Americans deserve strong, capable leaders who care about this country and care about its people.”
“Dwayne, that kind of sounds like you and me. I guess we gotta’ do it,” Hanks says as a “Johnson, Hanks 2020” banner is revealed behind them.
Johnson said he hadn’t considered running for president in the past, and now he’s worried he’s “too qualified.”
“I would get the senior vote because I fought in World War II in like 10 different movies,” Hanks quips.
“I would get the minority vote because everyone just assumes that I am whatever they are,” Johnson added.
Last week Johnson told GQ magazine he was considering running for president.
“I think it is a real possibility,” he said.
