D.C. Lottery schedules Internet gambling community meetings

D.C. Lottery has scheduled a series of community meetings to discuss its plans for implementing Internet gambling at various “hot spots” across the city.

The first meeting is scheduled for Aug. 17 at the Petworth Library in Ward 4 and each of the District’s eight wards will have a meeting in the following weeks. Neighborhood commissioners will have a separate meeting with D.C. Lottery on Aug. 16 and the full council will be briefed on the plan on Sept. 14. For a full schedule, go here.

Earlier this year, Ward 2 Councilman Jack Evans pushed D.C. Lottery to meet with community members before it moved forward with making Internet gambling available in bars, restaurants and coffee shops. D.C. Lottery agreed and halted its plan to have the system running by early September.
