PHOENIX (AP) — Testimony has resumed in Jodi Arias’ murder trial as a defense attorney attacks the credibility of a prosecution witness who says the defendant wasn’t a battered woman and doesn’t suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.
Clinical psychologist Janeen DeMarte is testifying as a prosecution rebuttal witness after the defense rested its case.
Arias’ attorneys portrayed her as a domestic violence victim who killed her one-time boyfriend in self-defense.
DeMarte is working to discredit defense experts who diagnosed Arias with PTSD, amnesia and battered woman’s syndrome. She explained Arias suffers from none of the disorders but had a borderline personality disorder.
DeMarte resumed testimony Thursday.
Arias faces a potential death sentence if convicted of first-degree murder in Travis Alexander’s 2008 killing.
