That, according to CNN, is how one “senior State Department official describes things in Ukraine. This is, the official say, because:
… Russia is “failing the test miserably” as to whether it is serious about negotiations.
Could be. Our State Department would surely has a lot of experience with failed negotiations.
But, then, maybe the Russians don’t want the negotiations to succeed. Never wanted them to succeed. Maybe what they’ve wanted, all along, is … Ukraine.
By that measure, the situation isn’t “dire” at all.
