Metro officials say an unauthorized person is on the tracks between the Rhode Island Avenue and Brookland-CUA stations on the Red Line, forcing trains to single-track and causing delays in both directions.
Metro spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein said the person was a man, but did not have any information about how he came to be on the tracks or whether he was injured. She said the third rail, which carries the electrical charge that powers the trains, had been “de-energized,” but she could not say if the man was still on the tracks.
More information to follow as it becomes available.
