Fox News’ Jeanine Pirro defends Trump: Was he supposed to shoot Putin?

Fox News host Jeanine Pirro asked what more President Trump could have done to appease his critics in a widely condemned press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Pirro, appearing on “Fox & Friends” Tuesday, suggested the only way Trump could have pacified those who wanted him to hold Putin accountable for Russian interference in the 2016 election was to kill his Russian counterpart.

“What was he supposed to do, take a gun out and shoot Putin? Putin said, ‘I didn’t meddle in your election,’ so the president should say ‘hang on, let me execute this guy?'” Pirro told her colleagues.

Trump dismissed U.S. intelligence community conclusions that Russia meddled in the last presidential election while standing next to Putin during a press conference in Helsinki. Instead, Trump attacked the FBI and special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

Pirro said Trump has already conceded Russia interfered in the election but “got defensive about his being the president.” She then dinged the intelligence community for their role in the Iraq war when asked if Trump should believe his intelligence agencies.

“The same intelligence community that said there were weapons of mass destruction that got us into a war?” Pirro responded.

“I mean come on, snap out of it everybody, the guy is doing what he’s supposed to be doing and that is protecting us,” she said.
