Man charged in Bethesda robberies

Montgomery County police have arrested a suspect in connection with two armed robberies last week in Bethesda.

Raymond Adell Sanders, 23, of Brandywine, was arrested Saturday after a witness observed him “acting suspiciously” before one of the robberies and provided his license plate number to police.

Sanders was arrested in connection with the robbery of a Sunoco gas station on Wisconsin Friday at 4:10 a.m. and of the Geste Wine store on Edgemoor Lane at 2:17 p.m. that same day.

Police found evidence from both robberies and a handgun allegedly used in the hold-ups at Sanders’ house.

Sanders faces two counts of armed robbery.
