Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and his husband, Chasten, recently received two newborn children, the couple announced Saturday.
Buttigieg, 39, shared a black and white image of him and his husband holding their new children, announcing their names are Penelope Rose and Joseph August Buttigieg.
“Chasten and I are beyond thankful for all the kind wishes since first sharing the news that we’re becoming parents,” Buttigieg tweeted with the photo.

The former mayor first announced the news of his parenthood last month when he tweeted, “For some time, Chasten and I have wanted to grow our family.”
It is not immediately clear whether the couple had their children through surrogacy or adoption, but Chasten told the Washington Post in July that the couple had been trying to adopt for a year without success.
