SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Michelle Price, an editorial assistant for The Associated Press in Phoenix, has been named the AP’s statehouse and political reporter in Utah.
Price covered the Arizona legislative session in 2012 for the AP and has also served as an intern, West Desk editorial assistant and college football desk editor in her time at the news organization.

In addition to her government coverage, she has written about border and immigration issues. She also has an interest in investigative reporting and has been a key reporter on several large reporting projects.
Price will be based at the Salt Lake City capitol and will cover the 2013 Legislature, politics and breaking news in Utah. She is the second hire for the AP in recent weeks; Brady McCombs, an award-winning border and immigration reporter, began his position as Utah supervisory correspondent last week.
“Michelle has a knack for finding information that no one else can, and we are thrilled to have her take on such an important beat and assignment,” said West Editor Traci Carl, who oversees news operations for 13 states.
Price, 24, is a graduate of Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. She has also worked at USA Today, The Arizona Republic and a private investigation firm.
