A commentary writer for the Washington Examiner appeared on Fox Business News to discuss the hypocrisy of Democratic officials such as Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, who claimed Wednesday that he held his breath while posing maskless for a photograph despite strict mandates in his city.
Commentator Tiana Lowe said on Cavuto: Coast to Coast, hosted Thursday by David Asman, that Garcetti’s claim to hold his breath is the latest version of former President Bill Clinton’s “I didn’t inhale.”
“Garcetti and [California Gov. Gavin] Newsom are responsible for telling you your 2-year-olds have to wear masks in pre-K and daycare, and they do not have to while they party with rich celebrities,” Lowe said. “This is the new ‘I didn’t inhale,’ Clinton style, that we all know is not true.”

Lowe added that the Democrats should have said they were vaccinated and that the vaccines work rather than try to cover it up to keep the masks in schools.
Garcetti’s claim occurred after he was photographed with Lakers legend Magic Johnson at the National Football League’s NFC championship game. He claimed he only removed the mask to take the photo and held his breath for the “two seconds” it took to take the picture.
The duo also discussed actress Susan Sarandon sharing a tweet describing the turnout at a funeral for a slain New York Police Department detective as a display of fascism.
Sarandon’s post questioned whether police officers are actually needed in the city if the department could afford to allow officers to attend the service.
“So, if all these cops weren’t needed for CRIME that day, doesn’t that mean they aren’t needed ANY day?” Sarandon said.

Lowe commented on the rise of homicides in cities such as New York and the hypocrisy of wealthy liberals calling to defund the police when people of color are struggling.
“There have been a massacre of cops from the beginning of this year that has been made worse by the Manhattan DA having this aggressive, nonprosecutorial stance when it comes to prosecution,” Lowe said.
“Defund the police failed. It failed in the mayor election, and it failed in Democratic polling. You do not see people of color rallying around defund the police. In fact, they want to refund the police. They want to reform the police. It doesn’t help when you have these wealthy, white liberals who can afford to hire private security demonizing the police. It hurts their cause.”
