Trump says the wall is already being designed

President Trump on Wednesday dismissed skeptics who think the wall with Mexico will not be built, saying that to the contrary, it is already being “designed.”

Speaking at a gathering of police chiefs in Washington, Trump dismissed skeptics who question whether a wall will actually go up.

“The wall is getting designed right now,” Trump said. “A lot of people say, ‘Oh oh Trump is only kidding.’ I wasn’t kidding. I don’t kid, I don’t kid. I watch this and they say I was kidding. I don’t kid about things like that, I’ll tell you. We will have a wall. It will be a great will and it will be a big help.”

The president also unleashed an impassioned defense of his executive actions on immigration, claiming that the text of his controversial ban was “written beautifully.”

The president said he watched “in amazement” late Tuesday night as a three-judge panel of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals heard oral arguments in the case involving his immigration order.

“This was done very importantly for security, something you people know more about than all of us,” Trump said of his directive. “It couldn’t have been written any more precisely. It’s not like, ‘Oh gee, we wish it was written better.'”

“It was written beautifully,” he said.

As he awaits the court’s decision to uphold or reverse a court order that has stalled implementation of his immigration ban, Trump said “it is a sad day” in America.

“I think our security is at risk today,” he told the officers.
