WHO: Pennsylvania Office of Energy Technology Deployment.
WHAT: The state awarded a $25,000 stimulus grant to a winery, to construct an energy-efficient utility building that includes advanced insulation, sensor lights and a geothermal heating and cooling system. The winery’s owner, Christine Carroll, told a local freelance reporter: “I am so proud of what we have accomplished here. We are a living example of ‘Yes We Can.'”
WHY IT’S AN OUTRAGE: It’s wonderful that this winery’s first electrical bill for the new building was only $49. But aren’t businesses supposed to pay for their own expansion instead of sponging off the taxpayer?
