Md. man pleads guilty to kidnapping, killing girl

A convicted sex offender has pleaded guilty to kidnapping and killing an 11-year-old Maryland girl whose body was found on Christmas day in 2009.

The Associated Press reports that 31-year-old Thomas James Leggs Jr. pleaded guilty in Cecil County court to the slaying of Sarah Foxwell.

Sarah disappeared on Dec. 22, 2009, and her body was found three days later.

Prosecutors had been pursuing the death penalty in the case, but Leggs was sentenced to life in prison as part of the plea agreement.
