Teen arrested after setting off homemade bomb

A teenager was charged with reckless endangerment after admitted to creating and setting off a homemade soda bottle bomb at a sub shop in Severna Park, Anne Arundel police said.

The 2-liter bottle contained common household items, police said Friday.

Witnesses at the Quiznos Subs, 484 Ritchie Highway, saw three suspects leave Wednesday in a blue Toyota sport utility vehicle after the device was detonated.

An investigation by officers led them to the 16-year-old suspect in the 300 block of West Haven Drive.

The penalty for reckless endangerment committed by an adult carries a potential penalty of five years in jail and a $5,000 fine, or both.

The suspect was released to the custody of his parents.
