Biden stops himself: ‘My time is up. I’m not going to go over like everybody’

Former Vice President Joe Biden cut his answer short after the moderators signaled for him to stop talking in a rare occurrence during the seventh Democratic debate.

Democratic presidential candidates took the stage Tuesday at Drake University’s Sheslow Auditorium in Des Moines, Iowa. Biden, while answering a question on federal aid for child care, ended his answer at the end of his allotted five-minute time clock.

“My time is up, I know, but I’m not going to go over like everybody,” said the famously loquacious Biden, 77, granting the moderators a rare courtesy during the night.

Biden also shut himself down during a June debate in Miami.

Biden is currently the front-runner in the Democratic primary, with 27.2% of the vote, according to RealClearPolitics. Sen. Bernie Sanders from Vermont is second, with 19.2% of the vote.
