Rick Scott postpones Monday meeting with Trump

Florida Gov. Rick Scott has postponed a meeting with Donald Trump that was set to take place Monday morning in the presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s Manhattan skyscraper.

Scott, who has been the subject of vice presidential speculation, will instead remain in the Sunshine State while Floridians prepare for a possible tropical storm, according to a spokeswoman for the governor.

“We should have a new date in the next few days,” Trump campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks told the Washington Post.

Trump had planned to discuss his campaign’s general election strategy with Scott and how to strengthen his appeal among voters in Florida, a major battleground state.

Scott endorsed Trump one day after the billionaire swept Florida’s Republican primary, saying Americans must “elect a Republican in the fall in order to grow jobs, rebuild our military and put a person who respects the Constitution the Supreme Court.”

“The voters are speaking clearly — they want a businessman outsider who will dramatically shake up the status quo in Washington,” he said at the time of his endorsement.
