One-time checks worth up to $1,657 are set to be sent out to Pennsylvania residents sometime soon.
Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf announced last week that thousands of elderly and disabled residents who have already received a rebate on rent or property taxes will receive another one-time bonus rebate, according to the Pennsylvania governor’s website.
TAX REBATES 2022: DIRECT ONE-TIME CHECKS WORTH $150 WILL BE SENT OUT IN JUST MONTHS
The new rebate will equal up to 70% of the original rebate amount, meaning the total could equal up to $1657.50. This is up from the previous maximum of $975. The new rebates are meant to help low-income Pennsylvania residents with rising costs due to inflation.
“For older adults in particular, many of whom are on a fixed income, a bonus Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program rebate this year will be a game changer,” Wolf said. “These bonus rebates will help older adults and Pennsylvanians with disabilities stay in their homes.”
Proposed in February, the rebates were signed into law in early August through Act 54 of 2022, according to the Pennsylvania government website. The rebates are being funded through $140 million in federal funds provided through the American Rescue Plan Act.

Those who filled out an application for last year’s program do not need to take any additional action to receive the rebate.
“If you are a claimant who has already filed your application form for the 2021 claim year, the Department of Revenue will take care of everything on the back end to ensure you get the extra money you are entitled to,” Revenue Secretary Dan Hassell said. “If you are an eligible Pennsylvanian who has not yet filed an application, there is still plenty of time to do so. The application deadline was recently extended to Dec. 31, 2022.”
