Rev. Jesse Jackson and his wife were hospitalized after testing positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, according to a statement from the Rainbow PUSH Coalition.
Doctors are monitoring their condition, the RPC said in a statement obtained by CNN Saturday. Jackson, 79, and his wife, Jacqueline Jackson, 77, are presently at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, the RPC said.
There was no further information readily available about the diagnoses, though the group urged “anyone who has been around either of them for the last five or six days” to “follow the [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] guidelines.”
The RPC is a Chicago-based international human and civil rights organization that was founded by Jackson in 1996, according to its webpage.
Rev. Al Sharpton tweeted Saturday evening following the incident, saying, “Let us all pray for Rev. and Mrs Jesse Jackson. They need our sincere and intense prayers. Prayer changes things!!!”

Jackson underwent a successful surgery following a previous hospitalization for abdominal discomfort in February of this year. He was also diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2017.
