Senate confirmation blitz includes 16 ambassadors, 11 other Trump appointees

Senate Republicans cleared 27 Trump appointees on Thursday as part of a confirmation blitz that is expected to last for weeks.

The list, passed by voice vote, included 16 new ambassadors who will represent the United States in nations including Monaco, Haiti, Mauritania, Cameroon, Denmark, and Niger, where a deadly Islamic State ambush left four soldiers dead earlier this month.
