Amazon plans to hire 75,000 warehouse and delivery workers at its U.S. and Canada facilities, including a $100 bonus for those already vaccinated against COVID-19, the company announced Thursday.
The jobs will offer an average starting pay of $17 hourly in accordance with its recent wage increases for 500,000 workers, according to a company statement.
“In addition to the great pay and robust benefits available to new hires starting on their first day, we’re offering a $100 benefit to new hires who come to Amazon already vaccinated for COVID-19,” the company added.
The online retail and technology company is gearing up for its biggest shopping day of the year in June, Prime Day. Amazon has yet to announce the date of its annual sale.

Companies across the country have also been pushing to find recruits as many are suffering from an increasingly tight labor market due to expanded jobless benefits.
Fast-food companies such as Chipotle and McDonald’s have also pushed for hiring sprees in recent times. Chipotle announced incentives Monday to hire 20,000 workers, saying it would increase wages resulting in an average hourly pay of $15.
Amazon did not say if it was having issues finding workers, though the company has increased hiring initiatives in recent months, employing 500,000 in 2020 alone to cover the surge of orders during the pandemic.
