Biden tells media he’s ‘not supposed to answer all these questions’

President Joe Biden was seen answering more questions from the press this week than he admittedly planned.

“You guys are bad. I’m not supposed to be answering all these questions,” Biden said Wednesday. “I’m supposed to leave, but I can’t resist your questions.”

The president originally appeared to talk about the administration’s COVID-19 vaccination drive, taking a few questions before turning to leave. But Biden was stopped by an unidentified media member, who asked the president if he was “optimistic” after “the end of your meeting.”

“Which one — which one of the 12 I’ve had?” Biden quipped.

After clarifying that the question was about his meeting with Vice President Kamala Harris and congressional leaders to discuss his infrastructure legislation, Biden decided he wasn’t finished talking yet.

The exchange comes after Biden has held just one prior news conference since taking office in January and days after White House press secretary Jen Psaki said she tries to avoid Biden having too much time in front of the press.

“He takes questions nearly every day he’s out from the press,” Psaki said of Biden’s inclination to take press questions. “That is not something we recommend. In fact, a lot of times, we say, ‘Don’t take questions.’ But he’s going to do what he wants to do because he’s the president of the United States.”
