A volunteer’s time is worth $18.77 per hour, according to a new estimate calculated by a D.C.-based nonprofit coalition.
The value estimate is a jump from last year’s figure, which the Independent Sector calculated as $18.04 per hour.
The Independent Sector, which is a nonprofit coalition made up of 575 charities, foundations and corporate philanthropy programs, calculates the hourly value by taking into account average hourly wage of workers in the United States, as well as a 12 percent increase to estimate fringe benefits.
