Apple will close 11 stores again in response to the surge in coronavirus cases.
The stores are located in Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina and will close on Saturday. All of those states have recently seen new record-high, seven-day averages of new coronavirus cases.
According to multiple sources, a spokesperson for Apple released the following statement: “Due to current COVID-19 conditions in some of the communities we serve, we are temporarily closing stores in these areas. We take this step with an abundance of caution as we closely monitor the situation, and we look forward to having our teams and customers back as soon as possible.”
Customers who have devices in those stores for repair will have the weekend to retrieve them. Back on March 13, Apple announced the temporary closure of all of its stores in response to the pandemic.
Stocks took a tumble after the announcement, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 23 points before recovering.
