Hughes Network System expands broadband capabilities

Hughes Network Systems, a satellite networking company based in Germantown, announced it has provided a broadband satellite to Galaxy Broadband Communications, a firm based in Canada.

The satellite allows Galaxy to expand its broadband service from Internet service to other consumer applications, including Internet phone service.

“We have significantly improved the options for Canadian organizations seeking a satellite-based broadband solution and have added greatly to the overall broadband infrastructure for the country through the purchase of the Hughes satellite network,” Galaxy Broadband President and Chief Executive Officer Rick Hodgkinson said.
