Washington among citiesto get lower Greyhound Bus fares

Greyhound Lines Inc. announced fare reductions in cities throughout the country Thursday, with D.C. among those selected for discount rates.

Fares between D.C. and a number of selected locations will be a few dollars lower, on average, than they had been previously, Greyhound spokeswoman Anna Folmnsbee said Thursday. Fares to and from Buffalo, for example, went down $3.

The fare reductions came as Greyhound expanded its “Elevate Everything” terminal face-lift program. The program first hit the Northeast in November, when D.C.’s Greyhound terminal in Southeast received an upgrade, including the addition of plasma televisions, an additional food kiosk, and other improvements. The Baltimore terminal was redone as well.

D.C.’s terminal is the fifth-busiest in the nation, and 1.3 million passengers traveled to and from the District via Greyhound bus in 2006, Folmnsbee said.
