Carlylesells nursing home business Long Beach, Calif., real estate investment trust HCP Inc. said it will buy the real estate assets of HCR ManorCare in a deal worth $6.1 billion. HCR ManorCare, a Toledo, Ohio, company that operates more than 300 nursing home, hospital rehab, assisted-living and long-term care facilities, is owned by the Carlyle Group, a D.C. investment firm. HCR ManorCare will continue to manage the facilities.
It is the largest REIT deal in the U.S. in three years, according to Bloomberg data.
KBR gets $33m job on Alexandria project
Houston construction and engineering firm KBR won a $33 million contract to assist Erkiletian and Jefferson Apartment Group on their mixed-use project under construction next to the Braddock Road Metro station.
Erkiletian and Jefferson broke ground on the project in November.
