Airports Authority wins marketing awards

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority won four awards in the 2007 Excellence in Marketing and Communications Contest run by the Airports Council International-North America.

The MWAA, which includes Dulles International and Reagan National Airport, placed second in both the creative innovations-technology category, for providing real-time parking availability information for Reagan on its Web site, and the press kits category, for supplying updates to the public on the ongoing construction at Dulles.

“We’re very pleased to have been recognized by the ACI-NA,” public affairs manager Tara Hamilton said. “It’s a great way to showcase public-information efforts … and we learn a lot from our counterparts.”

The MWAA also won third place for its annual report and for its monthly flight guides.

This year, 73 airports and airport authorities submitted almost 300 entries in 21 categories related to marketing and public relations, and 43 were recognized in at least one category.

Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall also won four awards.
