Board names Renée Winsky executive director of TEDCO

The Maryland Technology Development Corporation, one of the state’s leading investors in start-up technology firms, named Renée Winsky to the organization’s top post Monday.

Winsky assumes the executive director position after serving more than a year as the organization’s interim director.

“Since Renée joined TEDCO in 2000, she has been a major force in helping TEDCO to continue growing its position as Maryland’s leading source of funding for seed capital and entrepreneurial business,” TEDCO Board of Directors Chairman Frank Adams said in a statement issued Monday.

Founded in 1998, TEDCO is a state-funded organization charged with growing Maryland’s technology sector.

Most recently, Winsky was instrumental is establishing the Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund, a $15 million fund to promote research by both public and private organizations in the state.

Winsky replaces Phillip Singerman, who left TEDCO in 1998 to become a managing director at Toucan Capital Corp., a venture capital firm in Bethesda focused on investments in life sciences companies.
