Arlington firm to provide security for worldwide career search site

Arlington-based Cyveillance, a cyber-intelligence company, has partnered with the career network Web site Monster, the flagship brand of Monster Worldwide Inc., to provide security services to the online recruitment company.

Monster’s decision was driven by the increase in online “phishing” activity, said Patrick W. Manzo, Monster’s vice president of compliance and fraud prevention.

Phishers try to elicit personal information from people by misleading them into thinking they are dealing with a trusted company or person. Phishers often use fake Web sites or e-mail sent from what appears to be a job recruiter, said Terry Gudaitis, Cyveillance’s cyber-intelligence director. We wanted to “get ahead of the curve,” Manzo said.

Monster has “taken a leadership position in their industry” by signing up for monitoring services that protect customers from potential fraud and protect Monster from identity misuse, said Todd Bransford, vice president of marketing for Cyveillance.

Monster has just started using these services and Manzo said it has seen a difference in the ability to shut down fake sites.

Founded in 1997, Cyvellance provides services to major corporations worldwide, including AOL and Microsoft.
