D.C.’s Fannie Mae and Marriott International are two of the best places in the country for Latinas to advance in the workplace, according to Latina Style.
The firms appeared on the magazine’s “Latina Style 50” as the best companies for creating an inclusive atmosphere and opportunities for advancement.

Some of the criteria used to judge companies included their number of Latina executives, mentoring programs, educational opportunities and job retraining.
Marriott was on the list for the 10th consecutive year, according to a statement from the company.
The hotel chain regularly conducts women’s leadership conferences, offers tuition reimbursement and offers alternative work arrangements, the statement said.
Marriott has received a number of nods for diversity this year, winning accolades from DiversityInc magazine and the National Association for Female Executives.
“Fannie Mae’s committed to fostering a work environment that supports diversity and inclusion,” spokeswoman Tita Ponce said Friday. The company has a Hispanic networking group that focuses on career development and volunteerism and sends employees to Latino Leadership executive training courses at educational
institutions.
Five firms were given honorable mentions from the magazine, among them McLean-based Freddie Mac and Reston-based Sprint Nextel.
