Virginia named country’s most business-friendly state for second time

Virginia has been named the most business-friendly state in the country by Pollina Corporate Real Estate, a corporate relocation firm.

This is the second time Virginia has been named the country’s top location for business. In August 2006, Forbes.com, the Web site of business magazine Forbes, ranked the commonwealth first on its list of “best states for business.”

“In Virginia, we work to support our existing businesses while also working creatively to recruit new investment and jobs,” Gov. Tim Kaine said in a statement. Pollina based its finding on factors including labor climate, cost of energy, workers’ compensation legislation and job growth.

“Virginia’s business-friendly tax environment, location, market access, education and infrastructure are especially enhanced by one of the strongest and most professional state economic development agencies in the nation,” said Ronald Pollina, president of Pollina Corporate Real Estate.
