Core180 moves to Fairfax

A telecommunications company is making Fairfax its new home.

Core180, which does telecom network integration work, is moving its operational headquarters to Fairfax on Nov. 1, Chief Executive Officer David Baule said Wednesday.

The 12-person company is based in Hoboken, N.J. Baule hopes to expand the firm to about 25 people by the end of the second quarter of 2008, a goal he sees as feasible. A year ago, Core180 had six employees.

“We’ve seen some pretty aggressive growth,” Baule said.

Business for Core180 has been boosted by last year’s award of the U.S. Defense Information Systems Network contract, for which it is the sole subcontractor to Arrowhead Global Solutions. The 10-year contract has an estimated value of more than $3 billion and serves the Defense Information Systems Agency.

The company helps to build networks mostly for government customers, which is the reason for the relocation, Baule said. The new office in the Merrifield neighborhood will house the employees who work in the operations, service provisioning and network engineering departments, he added.

Core180 sees potential expansion opportunities in the nonprofit and enterprise sectors, as well as in Asia, Baule said.
