Bush: 2016 race ‘pretty tame so far’ on personal attacks

Former Gov. Jeb Bush said the 2016 GOP primary has been “pretty tame so far” when it comes to personal attacks, despite his political action committee’s recent pair of ads attacking Sen. Marco Rubio for flip-flopping on a number of issues here.

“Let’s don’t try to feel like anybody’s a victim here,” Bush said during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

Bush also took a swing at the platform boots Rubio wore last week on the campaign trail in Iowa, an outfit selection that sparked widespread ridicule.

“I don’t have a height issue,” Bush joked before adding that he was wearing cowboy boots.

The former Florida governor expressed optimism about his chance to perform well in Iowa despite a recent spate of polls placing him in the low single digits.

“We’ve got a great ground game here,” Bush said. “We’ve got lots of volunteers.”

Bush vowed to succeed the “old-fashioned way,” by dispatching volunteers to identify and mobilize caucus-goers.
