PHILADELPHIA — Donald Trump grew tired Wednesday of being questioned by NBC News’ Katy Tur, and he eventually shut down their conversation by telling her to be quiet and accusing her of trying to “save” Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
The moment occurred during a press conference where Trump encouraged the Russians to return the thousands of deleted State Department emails from Hillary Clinton to the U.S. if they have them, and make them all available to the American voters.
“Do you have any qualms about asking a foreign government — Russia, China, anybody — to interfere, to hack into a system, of anybody’s email system?” the NBC reporter asked.
“That’s up to the president,” the billionaire businessman responded. “Let the president talk to them.”
“You said, ‘I welcome them to find those 30,000 emails…'” she started.
“Well, they probably have them. I’d like to have them released,” Trump interjected.
“Does that not give you pause?” Tur persisted.
“No, it gives me no pause. If they have them, they have them, we might as well [see them],” he responded.
The two then talked over each other for a period of time, as Tur repeated her line of questioning, until Trump eventually concluded with, “Be quiet. I know you want to save her.”
