Hillary Clinton ignored questions from Fox News’ Ed Henry at a campaign event this week in New Hampshire because he had already asked her a question last month, her staff reportedly explained.
Clinton took a few questions from reporters Monday, but none from Fox News, leaving Henry visibly frustrated. When asked about what happened, Henry said Tuesday that Clinton’s staff told him it was time for questions from other reporters.
“You already got a question a couple of weeks ago when you shouted at her in Iowa,” Henry said he was told by Clinton’s campaign staff.
The only trouble is: Clinton took questions from other outlets that were able to ask questions in Iowa, including NBC News and MSNBC.
“Two NBC questions, and not a single Fox question,” he said. “People will think I was angry and I was whining. No. We’re covering this campaign as fairly as anybody. And we’re going to be there every step of the way and if the Clinton campaign doesn’t want to call on us I’m just going to keep on pressing until they do.”
Henry tried Monday to ask the Democratic presidential candidate about a recent poll that shows many Americans don’t trust her. Clinton ignored his question and quickly exited the campaign event.
Team Clinton’s excuse — that Henry had already asked Clinton a question — refers to a moment in May when the Fox reporter blurted out a question during a campaign stop in Iowa, asking the infamously secretive candidate whether she would take any questions from the press.
“Maybe when I finish talking to the people here. How’s that?” Clinton winked.
“I might,” she added when asked again. “I’ll have to ponder it. But I will put it on my list for due consideration.”
