Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton met Tuesday morning in New York City with Rev. Al Sharpton to discuss issues specifically related to the African American community.
Clinton, who is working to shore up support among the African American community ahead of this month’s South Carolina primary, spoke with Sharpton about a number of issues. She insisted Tuesday that she is not a single-issue candidate and would be the best choice for African Americans.
“We don’t live in a single-issue country and we have work to do,” Clinton said Tuesday. “That work can only be done in partnership with one another.”
Clinton’s meeting with Sharpton comes roughly a week after Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders met with the activist in New York.
