Iowa will be one of the big U.S. Senate races to watch during the midterm elections in November.
Democrats, fighting to keep control of the chamber, are rallying behind Rep. Bruce Braley. But Republicans are keeping it close, and think they’ve found a star in Joni Ernst.
Ernst, a member of the state senate and a Lt. Colonel in the Iowa National Guard, has garnered national attention since winning the Republican primary earlier this year. She’s also attracted some big names from across the country, including many GOP leaders vying for a possible presidential bid in 2016.
In this latest installment of WEX BackStory, Senior Congressional Correspondent David M. Drucker explains how even a little help from her Republican friends could help or hurt Ernst, as she tries to gain traction in a fiercely competitive race.
