VIDEO: A look at top GOP primaries happening Tuesday

The November midterm elections are fast approaching and it’s a critical time for Republicans to nominate the best candidates to win in November. The GOP is looking to gain seats in the House of Representatives while gaining six seats to take control of the Senate. On Tuesday, four states will hold primaries across the country.

Few states will have a more interesting GOP primary than Kansas. Incumbent Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., is up against Tea Party-backed candidate Milton Wolf. Both men have had their share of hiccups in the media. It was revealed that Roberts lives in Virginia and rents out his home in Kansas and Wolf came under fire for posting X-ray photos of gunshot victims online while making crude comments. Recent polling shows Roberts with a strong lead over Wolf, but expect the Tea Party candidate to make a push over the final days.

Other important races Tuesday will happen in Michigan where a pair of congressional races will give another inside look into how strong the Tea Party movement is across the nation. Rep. Justin Amash, R-Mich., and Rep. Kerry Bentivolio, R-Mich., face Republican establishment picks in their primaries this week. Amash is holding a strong lead, however things are not looking good for Bentivolio.

With Tea Party-backed candidates facing off against the establishment, Tuesday’s primaries will give another look into the strength of both movements.
