VIDEO: Donald Trump considering 2016 run

Donald Trump said Monday night he is looking into a run for president in 2016.

“I am considering it very strongly,” Trump said at the Economic Club in Washington, D.C., in a discussion with philanthropist David Rubenstein.

Trump flirted with a presidential run in 2012 before ultimately bowing out, but he now seems more focused on a run. He cited the country’s mounting national debt and a struggling economy as key drivers for him as he explores the possibility.

“Frankly, I just think we need something very good, very fast or we’re going to be in very big trouble as a country,” he said.

Despite not running in 2012, Trump was quick to point out Monday that he did have strong favorable ratings and would have been a legitimate contender. However things may be even more difficult this time around. Trump has yet to be mentioned in public polling as a legitimate candidate and would have to work through a potentially crowded field of Republicans.

Trump said if he does decide to run he’d make a decision something in “March, April or May” of 2015.
