HuffPo: ‘Racist, sexist demagogue’ Trump wins in N.H.

Donald Trump’s primary victory in New Hampshire Tuesday evening resulted in a Huffington Post front page headline declaring that the state gave away its delegates away to a “sexist demagogue.”

An article authored by HuffPo Washington bureau chief Ryan Grim and associate politics editor Igor Bobic characterized the win as a “stunning turn of events for a party that vowed just four years ago to be more inclusive to minorities after failing to unseat President Barack Obama in the bitter 2012 election.”

Their report, titled “A Racist, Sexist Demagogue Just Won The New Hampshire Primary,” accused the casino tycoon of insulting “pretty much everyone,” while managing to win endorsements from self-proclaimed white supremacists groups.

“Trump’s real legacy, whether or not he wins the nomination, may ultimately be the damage he does to the Republican brand during the general election and in the many down-ballot races for Congress come November,” they wrote.

“Despite winning the favor of the primary crowd, Trump remains deeply unpopular with general election voters. With his victory in New Hampshire, however, Trump can claim major momentum going into the next primary contest in South Carolina — where he also leads by double digits — guaranteeing more GOP soul-searching to come,” they added.

The Huffington Post’s editorial board has made it no secret that it holds the casino tycoon in deep disregard, as it has stated outright on several occasions during the 2016 presidential election.

In January, the left-leaning news group announced that it would attach an editor’s note to all Trump-related stories denouncing the GOP front-runner as a racist bully.

“Donald Trump is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist, birther and bully who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims – 1.6 billion members of an entire religion – from entering the U.S.,” reads a note that comes attached at the conclusion to all stories involving the former-reality-TV-star-turned-presidential-candidate.

Earlier, in July 2015, the online news site announced it would restrict all Trump-related news to its entertainment section, because he was not a serious candidate deserving of serious coverage.

“After watching and listening to Donald Trump since he announced his candidacy for president, we have decided we won’t report on Trump’s campaign as part of The Huffington Post’s political coverage,” Grim and HuffPo editorial director Danny Shea said in a note to readers.

“Instead, we will cover his campaign as part of our Entertainment section. Our reason is simple: Trump’s campaign is a sideshow. We won’t take the bait. If you are interested in what The Donald has to say, you’ll find it next to our stories on the Kardashians and The Bachelorette,” it added.

Trump’s campaign responded later that same month by mocking the Huffington Post as totally irrelevant in the news industry.

“The only clown show in this scenario is the Huffington Post pretending to be a legitimate news source. Mr. Trump is not focused on being covered by a glorified blog. He is focused on Making America Great Again,” his team said in a note posted to Facebook.
