Joe Biden crossed paths with his presidential ticket rival and vice presidential successor Mike Pence at a 9/11 memorial In New York City.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the two mask-wearing men bumped elbows rather than shaking hands as they briefly greeted each other.
The Democratic presidential nominee and the Republican vice president attended a ceremony commemorating the 19th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on Friday. Their wives, Jill Biden and Karen Pence, were also in attendance and exchanged greetings.
Both Biden and President Trump are scheduled to visit the annual ceremony taking place at the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania on Friday, but they are not expected to run into each other there.

Pence and Biden have maintained a friendly relationship. Early during the Trump administration, Biden and former Vice President Dick Cheney would often talk to Pence and counsel him on foreign policy matters and other issues related to the office they have all shared.
