Tim Scott to endorse Rubio following Iowa caucuses

South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott is slated to endorse Republican presidential hopeful Marco Rubio Tuesday morning, according to multiple sources involved with the Florida senator’s presidential campaign.

Scott has been the host of an ongoing presidential town hall series in his home state, and his aides have previously said the senator is likely to endorse before South Carolina’s Feb. 20 primary.

“If Senator Scott decides to endorse, which he hopes to do, it will be … before the South Carolina primary,” Margaret Spaulding, an aide to the senator, told The Daily Caller in December.

Earlier this month, Scott’s colleague, former Republican hopeful and South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, announced his endorsement of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

Meanwhile, South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy, who chairs the House Select Committee on Benghazi, has been busy campaigning for Rubio in his he state as well as in New Hampshire.

Rubio will return to New Hampshire Tuesday, following caucus night in Iowa. His campaign has yet to formally announce any events featuring Sen. Scott.
