‘I wish he’d open it’: Biden mocks Trump for Bible photo-op

Joe Biden mocked President Trump for a photo Trump posed for on Monday, when he held a closed Bible in front of a church.

“I just wish he’d open it every once in a while. He could learn something,” the former vice president said during a Tuesday event in Philadelphia.

Biden’s comments came after Trump engaged in a photo-op outside of St. John’s Episcopal Church, a historic house of worship behind the White House that was burned by protesters Sunday night.

Trump walked out to the church Monday afternoon after Secret Service cleared the area of protesters. He held the Bible in the air, closed, while photographers took pictures of him.

Episcopal leadership in the D.C. area criticized Trump for the visit, with Bishop Mariann Budde saying that she was “outraged” that the president would visit the church without praying.

Trump is scheduled to visit another church on Tuesday, the John Paul II Shrine, along with his wife, Melania, and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
