Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., declared “Washington sucks” in a new campaign ad in which he promises not to play politics, and instead focus on what’s in the best interest for West Virginia if he wins re-election.
“People here have been screwed by both political parties,” Manchin lamented. “Yes, Washington sucks, but West Virginians don’t give up.”
The line is not new for Manchin. He said “Washington sucks” in January after being attacked by Vice President Mike Pence for voting against the GOP tax cut bill.
Manchin uses the ad to relate to his constituents who have “gone through hardships” by remembering people he lost in a 1968 mine explosion, including an uncle, a neighbor and others he grew up with.
“For me, it’s always about West Virginia, that will never change,” Manchin said.
