Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign has raised $18 million since joining the 2020 Democratic primary Feb. 19, officials said during a call with reporters Tuesday morning.
That number puts Sanders first in fundraising among candidates who have disclosed their quarter one totals.
Aides to the Vermont senator said that average donation was $20, slightly lower than his average donation in 2016 which was $27. The campaign also said that money came from just under 900,000 individual donors, with a majority being under the age of 39 years old.
On Monday, Calif. Sen. Kamala Harris disclosed that she raised $12 million in her campaign’s first quarter. South Bend Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg announced that he hauled in over $7 million since announcing.
The other Democratic presidential candidates have yet to disclose their fundraising totals. The Federal Election Commission has an April 15 deadline for all campaigns to file a report on their finances.
