Trump reveals Melania will be ‘very active’ for him on 2024 campaign trail

Former President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that his wife, former first lady Melania Trump, would be more active on the campaign trail this election cycle than in his previous runs.

The ex-president said Melania Trump, who stayed out of the spotlight during the couple’s first stint in the White House, was compassionate and was also dedicated to making the country “great again.”

“She wants to make America great again too,” Donald Trump told Fox News of his wife. “I rely on her for advice and all the others. I think she will be very active.”

Donald Trump said his entire family has been “tremendous” when it comes to attacks against him, but he said he was concerned about “unfair” political attacks made against his family.

The comments come as Melania Trump continues to mourn the death of her mother, Amalija Knavs, who died on Jan. 9. Melania Trump gave the eulogy at her mother’s funeral in Palm Beach, Florida, last week.

“My mother, the epitome of elegance and grace, exemplified the essence of a true woman,” Melania Trump said in her tribute. “Her nurturing spirit had no limits, creating a legacy that will last for generations. She showered her grandson, Barron, with affection, illuminating his world with love, tender care, and unwavering devotion. She embodied the best mother, wife, grandmother, mother-in-law, a true beacon of love and luxury in our lives.”

The former president did not give a speech at the funeral, but he honored Melania Trump and her mother in a victory speech following the Iowa caucuses.

“I think, most importantly, I want to thank my incredible wife, first lady, I’ll say former and maybe future — but more important than Melania, I want to thank her incredible, beautiful mother who passed away a few days ago,” Donald Trump said. “And she’s up there, way up there. She’s looking down, and she’s so proud of us. And I just want to say to Amalija, you are special, one of the most special people I’ve ever known.”

Donald Trump is now campaigning in New Hampshire as voters head to the polls for the country’s first primary. It is not clear whether Melania Trump will make any appearances on Tuesday.
