Two people stopped Democrats from replacing Joe Biden on 2024 ticket — Trump and Harris: Report

A new report is certain that Democrats will run President Joe Biden as their nominee in 2024, with the primary motivating factors being former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

An analysis from Politico‘s senior political columnist and politics bureau chief, Jonathan Martin, holds that the widely held belief of Republicans that Democrats won’t stick with Biden in 2024 is incorrect. The two factors that ensure this, he holds, are fears over the strength of Trump and the weakness of Harris.

“This centrality of Trump — and Democrats’ determination to block his return — is what insulates Biden within his own party,” Martin wrote. “The proverbial moat around the Biden White House is stocked with very classy, Trump-branded alligators. No major Democrat dares question the president because that risks weakening him and helping Trump.”

The other major problem is Harris.

“Last year, at exactly this time, more elected Democrats were saying in private that they hoped Biden would step aside,” Martin continued. “Few wanted to say it out loud for fear of aiding Trump and, even more delicate, being asked the inevitable follow-up question: So, are you for Vice President Kamala Harris?”

Harris enjoys little support among the general public, with a poll this week finding only one-fifth of voters believe she is the top contender for the Democratic nomination.

Martin said that the time to swap out Biden as the Democratic candidate has passed, and there is no force within the Democratic Party right now that could act against him.
