AIPAC to spend $100 million against Democratic candidates who have not been supportive of Israel: Report

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee is planning to spend $100 million in support of campaigns against hard-left House Democrats seen as anti-Israel, according to a report.

AIPAC, one of the largest and most powerful lobbying groups in the country, is poised to begin its greatest spending blitz yet, as Israel comes under unprecedented criticism over the Israel-Hamas War. The figure of $100 million was given by three people with direct knowledge of the matter, speaking with Politico. This is in addition to $19 million already spent this cycle.

The total will likely be enough to unseat a slew of candidates.

Former Rep. Andy Levin, who was ousted in 2022 after AIPAC spent $4 million against him, predicted that “most” candidates will be taken out by the campaign.

“I’m afraid that they can be quite successful in wiping them out,” he told the outlet.

AIPAC’s Super PAC, United Democracy Project, is monitoring 15-20 different House races, according to the report.

“They’ll have so much money, wherever there’s an opportunity, they will take it,” an anonymous Democratic donor involved in the effort told Politico.

The Washington Examiner reached out to AIPAC for comment.

While AIPAC has been reinvigorated by the Israel-Hamas War, so have its Congressional foes. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has accused the group of racism and anti-democratic behavior.

“AIPAC endorsed scores of Jan 6th insurrectionists. They are no friend to American democracy,” she said in October. “They are one of the more racist and bigoted PACs in Congress as well, who disproportionately target members of color. They are an extremist organization that destabilizes US democracy.”
